Making hummus is a joy and very easy to do! I love serving this in all sorts of ways. If I’m serving to impress I love to serve this with crushed pistachios and pomegranates onto, the colours look amazing, if you have no prep time a splash of paprika across the top looks stunning. Serve with sticks of veg, hummus chips, creative tortilla chips, vegetable crisps, bread sticks, garlic breads, there is so many options. You can pimp up your hummus too by adding roasted garlic, roasted peppers, pesto, roasted aubergine. You could make you hummus thinner or coarser! Have fun!
So you will need…
200g of drained chickpeas this is generally one tin drained.
2tbsp of lemon juice
2 garlic cloves
1 tsp ground cumin
Pinch of salt
1 tbsp tahini
4 tbsp water or I like a looser hummus so I add more water here and blitz for longer to make a smoother consistency but you can choose until you get what you like!
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp paprika
Ok take your food processor and throw all the ingredients in and then whizz it up. This is the important bit. Give it a taste. You will undoubtedly need to adjust it. Does it need more salt, lemon juice, spice, cumin? Adjust until you are happy as this will make it a great humous. You can blitz for shorter or longer period to make this a coarser or thinner hummus. And add more water as you go if you want to make it thinner.
Now you could also pump it up and make it a different humous too you could add pesto, roasted veg, fresh chilli, roasted pine nuts, roasted garlic, the choice is yours!! Be creative and use this as a base.
