Pizza Dough

Making Pizza is a great activity and we have a regular pizza night then we can all get involved and pick our own toppings and its quite good fun making the pizzas.  img_4134

Making dough with kids can be really good fun too as they love playing with the dough and watching it rise and rolling it out or trying to stretch it out and then making their own toppings and you can introduce them helping out b tearing ingredients, grating and some simple chopping too and it will be very rewarding that they have made their own pizza.  The simple delight though is the taste it is definitely much better than the shop bought and dare i say it many of the fast food varieties that we come across.

If you have allergies to consider there is so many options now with lacto free cheese and vegan cheese and i have a recipe for gluten free pizza dough too which you may want to check out!  We have all these things to consider in our house when we have pizza night too!

So you will need:

500g Strong White Bread Flour or OO flour

2 tsp fast action dried yeast

2/3 tsp salt

300ml warm water

2 tbsp olive oil

Method

If you have a mixer with a dough hook then through the ingredients into the mixer and mix on a slowish speed to combine and let it do its work for 10 minutes to make a nice smooth elastic dough.  Cover the bowl in cling film and rest for 1 hour which the dough should rise considerably in size.  Preheat your over to 200′ non fan or 180′ fan and Knock the dough back and its ready to roll into pizzas to your desired thickness.  This will make 3 good size pizzas or make smaller if desired.  Apply your toppings and place on hot baking tray and cook for 8-12 minutes until cooked and golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
