Messing about on the River

If your anything like us with a big family and different age older kids, trying to find something that keeps them all happy and entertained on a family day out can sometimes be a bit of a challenge.

This dayout tends to be a big hit with everyone and thought i would share this with you.  We love hiring a boat and packing a picnic.  We are a bit spoilt for choice round by us as we have Henley on Thames, Marlow and Windsor to name a few great destinations to easily just turn up and hire different types of boats on the day.  These pictures were taken at Marlow.  You can really make a whole day of it at any of these destinations as these are very popular towns, where there are plenty of other activities to do with shops, bars, pubs, restaurants, river walks and parks to name just a few things to do before or after a boat trip.  If you wanted to combine another attraction or a visit there is things such as national trusts and other attractions just outside the towns should you want to combine other things to do.

If you want to hire boats you have a range of row boats or motor boats in different sizes on offer for different hire times depending on availability.    You will need some ID and a deposit too.

We chose to combine this day with a trip to Clivedon (National Trust) which i would highly recommend and well worth a visit. There is plenty to do here and lots of walks and gardens and you can even hire boats here too.  Its a great place to visit at different times of the year too as it looks totally with the changing seasons.

    • yes todays weather is rubbish!! there is no doubt about that. stay dry and warm and enjoy the coffee shops instead! hope you have a lovely day in Henley 🙂
